‘Boop! The Musical’ Announces Full Cast for North American Tour

The complete cast has been announced for the North American tour of “Boop! The Musical,” which will begin performances October 3 at the West Herr Auditorium Theatre in Rochester, New York.

The Rochester engagement will run through October 10 before the production continues its planned 50-week national tour.

Former “American Idol” contestant Aliya Grace will lead the company as Betty Boop, taking on the title role originated on Broadway by Jasmine Amy Rogers.

Grace will be joined by Mason Ballard as Dwayne, Ashia Collins as Carol Evans, Michelle Jennings as Valentina, Dan Mason as Grampy, Joshua Woodie as Raymond Demarest, Ashley Calderon as Trisha, Adam Clarke as Pudgy and Kevin W. Egan as Oscar Delacorte.

The touring company also includes Kevin Bowman, Christian J. Collins, Leah Faye, Kayla Goins, Eric Gonzalez, Jesse Hanks, Izzy Herz, Anya Katherine Jones, Jaxon Keller, Elie Kuppermann, Helena Elizabeth Laing, Ava Madara, Neema Muteti, Annalise Northway, PJ Palmer, Jame Tomé Rotz, Kenneth Sweeney, Devyn Trondson and Evan Michael Vaughan.

“Boop! The Musical” is based on the animated character created by Max Fleischer and follows Betty as she leaves her black-and-white cartoon world for present-day New York City. Her journey introduces her to a new world while giving her an opportunity to discover more about herself and make an impact on the people she encounters.

The musical features a book by Tony Award winner Bob Martin, music by Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter David Foster and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Susan Birkenhead.

The North American production will recreate the Broadway staging originally directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell. DB Bonds will recreate Mitchell’s direction for the tour, while Rachelle Rak will recreate the choreography.

Mitchell received a Tony Award nomination for his choreography on the Broadway production, while Rogers earned a nomination for her performance as Betty Boop. The show also received three Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards during its Broadway run.

Several members of the Broadway creative team are returning for the tour, including scenic designer David Rockwell, costume designer Gregg Barnes, lighting designer Philip S. Rosenberg, sound designer Gareth Owen and projection designer Finn Ross.

Also returning are hair and wig designer Sabana Majeed, makeup designer Michael Clifton, illusion designer Skylar Fox, The Huber Marionettes, music supervisor and arranger Daryl Waters and orchestrator Doug Besterman.

Casting is handled by Kevin Metzger-Timson and Olivia Page West of The TRC Company. Frank Deming II serves as company manager, with Anna Klevit as production stage manager.

NETworks Presentations is producing the tour, with The Booking Group handling booking. The production is presented in association with Fleischer Studios.
