Live Nation Unveils 21,000-Capacity São Paulo Arena

Live Nation is making a major venue play in Brazil, partnering with Cidade Center Norte to develop what the companies are calling South America’s largest indoor live entertainment arena.

The 21,000-capacity São Paulo Arena will be built inside the Cidade Center Norte district and is expected to host concerts, sporting events and other major productions. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026, with an opening targeted for 2028.

Once operational, the arena is projected to stage more than 200 events annually.

“São Paulo deserves an arena that reflects the energy, passion and cultural influence of one of the world’s great cities,” Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino said in a press release. “São Paulo Arena will be the new home for Brazilian and international artists and the fans who make this city one of the most exciting live entertainment markets.”

The project will be developed through a Live Nation-led joint venture with Cidade Center Norte. It marks Live Nation’s first venue in São Paulo and adds another major piece to the company’s expanding Brazilian footprint.

According to projections from Oxford Economics, São Paulo Arena could generate $159.9 million in direct attendee spending and more than $311.2 million in total annual economic impact across Brazil by its fifth year. The venue is also expected to support roughly 1,800 jobs each year.

Blueprint Studio, Live Nation’s in-house venue design and development group, is leading the design. The team’s previous work includes Austin’s Moody Center and New York’s Barclays Center.

Plans call for three seating levels, a dedicated VIP suite level, climate control and upgraded acoustics designed to improve performances while limiting noise in surrounding neighborhoods. The arena will also include accessibility and sustainability features, a 2,000-space parking garage, rideshare and taxi areas, and connections to major roads and public transportation.

“São Paulo Arena is a dream project coming to life,” Cidade Center Norte CEO Flavio Fernandes noted, adding that the venue will complement the district’s existing mix of retail, hotels, residences, offices, healthcare and event facilities.

The company also holds a majority stake in Rock World, the producer behind Rock in Rio, The Town and Lollapalooza Brasil.
