Ticketmaster is offering freebies and discounts to fans who purchased tickets between 1999 and 2013 after settling a class action lawsuit.
In 2003, the Schlesinger v. Ticketmaster class action lawsuit was filed, alleging that Ticketmaster failed to fully disclose to consumers all aspects of its UPS and order processing fees. The case was settled in 2013, and the court granted final approval of the settlement in February 2015. Consumers who purchased tickets on Ticketmaster.com between October 21, 1999 and February 27, 2013 are included in the “class period.”
As part of the settlement, Ticketmaster agreed to give each class member a discount code worth $2.25 off a future purchase of tickets for each purchase made during the period, along with a $5 UPS discount code for each purchase made on the site that included UPS delivery. Additionally, each class member will receive one ticket voucher for each purchase made, which are potentially redeemable for two general admission tickets for eligible events at a Live Nation venue. Up to 17 discount codes and vouchers can be redeemed per class member.
Ticketmaster said that the Settlement Agreement limits the value of vouchers that are to be redeemed in a given year and to “please be aware that due to high demand and limited availability, we expect these tickets to be redeemed quickly.” Codes can be redeemed through June 18, 2020.
To check for eligibility, customers can visit their Ticketmaster account and vouchers will be found. After making note of your voucher codes, visit settlement.livenation.com/#events to see the eligible events and to redeem them.
