Bon Jovi Refunds Fans After Madison Square Garden Concert Ends Early

Bon Jovi is issuing full refunds to fans who attended the band’s shortened July 23 concert at Madison Square Garden after Jon Bon Jovi’s health issues forced the performance to end early.

Ticketmaster notified primary ticket buyers that refunds would be automatically returned to their original method of payment within 14 business days. The band was unable to arrange a replacement performance because of scheduling and logistical issues, according to the notice.

The July 23 concert was the eighth night of Bon Jovi’s nine-show run at Madison Square Garden. The performance lasted approximately 90 minutes and included about 15 songs, several fewer than the roughly 19-song sets performed during other dates in the residency.

Jon Bon Jovi had been dealing with a sinus infection that affected his ability to sing. During the concert, Train frontman Pat Monahan joined the band for “Livin’ on a Prayer” and took over the lead vocals midway through the song.

Monahan was attending the concert as a fan and was not originally scheduled to appear, according to a person who attended the show.

Jon Bon Jovi later addressed the audience from the stage and explained that he had been experiencing a health setback. The band subsequently brought the show to an early close.

A representative for Bon Jovi confirmed that the sinus infection caused the abrupt ending. The refund decision comes more than a month after the concert. Fans who purchased their tickets through Ticketmaster will not need to submit a separate refund request, although the announcement specifically refers to primary ticket purchasers. Details were not provided for fans who acquired their tickets through resale platforms.

Bon Jovi’s return to touring followed Jon Bon Jovi’s recovery from vocal cord surgery. The singer underwent a procedure in 2022 after one of his vocal cords began to atrophy, leaving him uncertain about whether he would be able to perform full concerts again.
