Kenzie Ziegler to Make Broadway Debut in ‘& Juliet’

Kenzie Ziegler will make her Broadway debut this fall in “& Juliet,” joining the musical at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre for a limited engagement.

Ziegler, the dancer and social media personality known for her time on Dance Moms, will begin performances as Charmion on September 15 and remain with the production through November 1. She is slated to take over the role of Charmion. Halima Dodo, who currently plays the character, is scheduled to give her final performance on September 13.

“I can’t believe I actually get to make my Broadway debut in this amazing show,” Ziegler said in a statement. “I’m so excited to work with the wonderful team at & Juliet.”

The production also announced extensions for Joey Fatone and Tony Award winner Paulo Szot, who will continue alternating in the role of Lance through November 1. Fatone is scheduled to perform September 1-6, September 23 through October 11, and October 20 through November 1. Szot will appear August 18-30 and October 13-18, while Reese Britts will perform as Lance during the remaining performances through November 1.

Corey Mach has also extended his engagement as Shakespeare through October 4.

The production will see additional casting changes in September. Chrissy Metz, known for her work on This Is Us, will play her final performances as Angélique on September 13. Anthony Gargiula, a social media personality and recording artist, will join the company as François beginning September 15.

The current cast includes Gianna Harris as Juliet, Alison Luff as Anne, Mach as Shakespeare, Michael Iván Carrier as May, Metz as Angélique, Liam Pearce as Romeo, and Levy as François. Fatone and Szot alternate as Lance.

“& Juliet” opened on Broadway in November 2022 and is now in its fourth summer at the Sondheim Theatre. The production celebrated its 1,500th Broadway performance on June 23.

The musical reimagines William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” by asking what might have happened if Juliet had survived the tragedy and chosen to take control of her own story. The show features a book by David West Read and a score built around pop hits written or produced by Max Martin.

Directed by Luke Sheppard, “& Juliet” features choreography by Jennifer Weber, with musical supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Bill Sherman. The production was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
