Hinterland 2026 Ends With KATSEYE Milestone as 2027 Dates Are Revealed

Hinterland Music Festival wrapped its 11th edition Sunday after four days of performances, outdoor experiences and festival crowds in Saint Charles, Iowa.

KATSEYE, Lorde, Mumford & Sons and Kali Uchis topped the 2026 bill, with KATSEYE opening the weekend Thursday in a landmark appearance: the group’s first-ever festival headlining set.

The lineup stretched across pop, indie, rock, R&B, Latin, folk and alternative music, continuing Hinterland’s formula of pairing established stars with emerging acts. Founder and producer Sam Summers once again curated the independently owned festival.

Beyond the stages, attendees explored an expanded HinterMarket featuring regional artists and makers, along with installations, interactive attractions, trails and gathering spaces throughout the festival grounds.

Held in rural Saint Charles outside Des Moines, Hinterland has grown into a Midwest destination built around music, camping, art and the outdoors. Since launching in 2015, the festival has hosted artists including Chappell Roan, Zach Bryan, Hozier, Noah Kahan, Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson, Bon Iver and Brandi Carlile.

Organizers are already looking ahead. Hinterland will return July 30 through August 1, 2027.

Fans can register at HinterlandIowa.com for early access to 2027 tickets at the festival’s guaranteed lowest pricing.
