Calvin Harris’ São Paulo Carnival Set Breaks Attendance Record

Calvin Harris has earned a Guinness World Records title after drawing an estimated 1.6 million people to a DJ set during São Paulo’s 2026 Carnival celebrations.

The Scottish DJ and producer received the record for the largest attendance at a DJ set by a single artist. The performance took place on February 8 along Rua da Consolação, near Avenida Paulista, in the center of Brazil’s most populous city.

Harris shared news of the certification on social media, along with images of the official Guinness plaque and footage from the event.

“WOW I now have the world record for ‘largest attendance for a DJ set by a single artist’ ,” Harris wrote. “ only in Brazil!!! This was a truly insane day.”

The free performance was part of São Paulo’s street Carnival and placed Harris aboard a trio elétrico, the sound truck commonly used during Brazilian Carnival parades. He performed in a Brazil national soccer team shirt bearing the name “Calvinho” as the vehicle moved through the city-center route.

Guinness World Records listed the official attendance at 1.6 million people, giving Harris one of the largest documented audiences for an electronic music performance. The figure matches the estimated crowd that attended Madonna’s free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro in May 2024, though the two events fall under different record categories.

The record recognition followed Harris’ return to Brazil earlier in September, when he became the first solo DJ to headline Rock in Rio’s main stage.

Harris will continue performing internationally through early 2027. His upcoming schedule begins September 24 at the Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan, followed by two performances at Ushuaïa Ibiza in Spain.

His North American schedule includes two appearances at Head Trip in Indio, California, along with three shows at XS Las Vegas. He will also perform twice at The Lineup Mexico City before visiting Colombia, Mexico, Chile and the Dominican Republic.

Harris will begin 2027 with his first headlining tour of Australia. The four-date run opens February 18 at Langley Park in Perth and continues through Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The outdoor shows are restricted to attendees ages 18 and older.

The Telstra Plus presale for the Australian dates began September 21. An artist presale opens September 23 at noon, followed by the general onsale September 24 at 1:00 p.m. local time. Harris will follow the Australian run with an appearance at Electric Avenue Music Festival in Christchurch, New Zealand.
